iphone 4 charging issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

My iphone 4 wont charge anymore. When I plug it in it shows the plug icon on the battery as if its fully charged. It does make the noise when you plug it in so it recognises the charger. I've tried 2 different chargers and cables plus I've done a hard reboot and a restore but still nothing. I have only got 3-4 months left on my contract and no warranty on the phone. Any ideas?????Smiley Mad

when not on charge what is the battery indicating?

have you let it run out of charge?

if it is just a battery issue then apple will do a battery replacement for a fee.

if other hardware fault apple will do an out of warranty replacement again for a fee.

@penny it is connecting in the op opening post make the noise and goes to charged status

It will be either a battery calibration issue or a real hardware / battery fault hence my questions

Try a different iPhone USB cable as that happened to me, my iPad wouldn't charge with other cables, only one will do it

OP has tried.  Take Adam's advice, Apple genius appointment is required, if it is the battery or hardware then there is a fee and you are usually given a refurbished phone of the same capacity as your own.  If you can still connect to a computer do a back up before going to the store so you can restore any replacement phone from that.  But first try to fully discharge the battery as per Adam's suggestion in case that kick starts it.  I find the quickest way to discharge is to video something as that drains the power pretty quickly.  Good luck.
