I upgraded my iPhone 4 to an iPhone 4s and transferred my O2 SIM to the new phone. My son wanted my old iPhone but it wouldn't work with his O2 SIM (even tho his SIM works in my new phone and his Dad's phone). The old phone would only work with the original SIM card so it seems the phone had locked itself to that SIM. I contacted O2 who arranged to have the phone unlocked but it still wouldn't work. I then factory reset the phone to see if that would solve the problem and now even the original SIM won't work in it! Help!!

I have today been to the Apple store and it seems that after my factory reset the phone is locking itself to Orange .. (the phone was originally an insurance replacement for a broken phone when I was on the Orange network 9 months ago ... when I received it I put an O2 SIM card in it as I was changing to O2 anyway and as it worked fine I didn't bother asking Orange for an unlock code). Apple can see from their records that I have never used it with Orange. They could replace the phone for £119 but said they would have to put in all the original settings so it would still lock to Orange again (which I find a bit bazarre)??? so suggested I contact Orange unlock it .... I have just spoken to Orange who refuse to unlock it as I am no longer an Orange customer!!! Help!!!!

Might be worth trying an independent phone shop to unlock it

Yes that's a good point is there any length of time you have to have been on the network for them to unlock
