iPhone 6 click and collect

Anonymous

I had the following text message from O2 on Tuesday:

"O2: We're so excited about getting iPhone 6 into your hands, we gave you the wrong Click and Collect date. Pop into the store you selected online, on September 19th, not September 17th. Enjoy your new phone."

This is the only contact I've had from O2 since pre-ordering an iPhone 6 on Friday afternoon. I've not had any other tracking notifications and my order status is still "in progress". Will I be picking up a new phone this weekend or not?

I had the same text and checked with CS this morning but they couldnt say anymore.

However I have just checked online and my iPhone 6 + order is now showing dispatch details. So guessing that is a good sign.

I chose click and collect. On My Orders, it now shows that my orders dispatch date is today, and I spoke to a live chat who advised that it's in the process of being sent to my selected store, so hopefully I should get it tomorrow!

Sorry for the long post, but what a head spin / nightmare.

Ordered last Friday, 2pm and opted for click and collect.

Got a confirmation email but did not contain any ETA.

Out of the blue Tuesday I received a text stating O2 were so excited they sent me the wrong date, and the phone would be ready to collect on the 19th.

So been keeping eye on the order online but it doesn’t appear to progress.

Live Chat is as useful as a chocolate teapot so I called 202 today.

They checked and said all they could confirm was it was awaiting despatch, but if I called my local store they should be able to confirm the situation.

Called my store and they confirmed they had the stock for my order and I could collect tomorrow as per normal.

HAPPY DAYS!!! Or so I thought…

Called my friend and told them my stock was in and could collect tomorrow.

So he decided to call and check his preorder was in, and they told him they had no iphone 6 plus until November!

Yes that was the same store, and the calls were approximately 2 minutes apart.

So I called back to clarify.

The lady then told me the store had not received any iphone 6 plus stock, and even if they did they wouldn’t sell them.

Apple have moved the launch date back to 7th October and are only releasing the smaller version tomorrow to maximize sales.

They confirmed that not a single network operator in the UK, or Apple will be selling iPhone 6 plus until October. So nobody nationwide will have one tomorrow.

This sounds like BS.

I have checked online and can find nobody with this story.

I even called a couple of my other local stores and they both confirmed they would be selling tomorrow.

Now what do I do?

Is my iphone being held hostage in a store that wont release it for 3 weeks?

What is best plan of action?

I even checked online which shows my phone was shipped to the store on the 17th.

Why is O2 making this so difficult?

TBH ...we regulars have been trying to say this. We always understood the 6 plus was going to be dispatched 2-3 weeks after the iPhone 6...:smileysad:

It does say the iPhone 6 Plus is avaiable on 19th of September, and still does on O2's website, so unless they change this, I would fully expect people to recieve the phone tomorrow, albeit it probably only a small number.

Was always given a 19th September launch date though from what I have seen 😞

Lots of people have tracking numbers too for delivery tomorrow.

I cant see how they can postpone launch nationwide less than 24 hours before the launch.

So much conflicting info?
So the other store 10 miles from me, who said they have 6 plus in stock to take away tomorrow? They are incorrect?

Im confused...

I opted for click and collect (iPhone 6 128GB) and received both a SMS and Email about 30 minutes ago telling me my iPhone is ready for collection in store tomorrow from opening.

The My O2 page hasnt changed status at all to reflect this though.

If it helps - check the order status on My O2

Mine still says "In Progress" but it also has a dispatch date of the 17th.

I checked with 202 and they confirmed that if a dispatch date has been added, then the handset will be ready to collect tomorrow.

I doubt the guys in the retail stores are aware of too much.  Working for a retail company myself, I know we regularly tell the guys in the stores last (its a combination of bad planning and strategy - you cant control what the guys in stores say, while you can on chat and from your call centre!).  So chances are, the guys in the retail stores have read that the iPhone 6 Plus isnt available for 2-3 weeks and they are rehashing that!

Apple would not have announced a phone and told the world it was available on the 19th, and then go "oops... just kidding, it will be the 7th of October".

Also, if the Apple store only gets their iPhones tonight, there is no way other retailers will get it sooner.  Apple's stock control pre launch is ridiculous - think of the temptation for a random phone shop in the middle of no where, to get the iPhone stock and start playing with it!  They'll know stock tomorrow morning - as always.

Hope this helps.

Just standard iPhone 6 128GB Space Grey.

I spoke to CS earlier in the week to check if it would be available from Friday and they told me they would be sending email / text to confirm its at the shop ready to pick up. They said not to turn up until I had the confirmation. They did say I would get told on release day whether it would be there though, so I may have got confirmation earlier then some!
