iPhone 4s wifi connection

My iPhone began losing it's connection to a wifi network if I stood any further than 10 feet away from the hub. It then started not being able to find a network to connect to, and now the slider on my phone to turn wifi on and off no longer works so I can't even turn wifi on anymore. What do I do?

it is either a sowtware glitch or hardware the only thing you can try now is a restore of the firmware. as you have tried the other things described here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559

Settings , general , reset , reset network settings is worth a try

Reboot the iPhone by pressing the top button and home button until the apple logo appears.

Reset your home router by the reset button on it.

If the remedies don't work then seem assistance from the Apple Genius Bar.

Go into your wifi settings and forget the network then re enter it.

Does your laptop or mac connect ok to your home router.
Try resetting it as suggested.
