Recently I was given an iPhone 4 from a friend of mine and got a micro sim for use on O2, when I went to set up the phone I recieved an on screen message informing me the sim was not eligble under the activation policy and through later research found out this meant the phone is locked to my friend's old network of Virgin Mobile. In an attempt to solve the problem I did the O2 swap my sim and swapped my old number to the sim in the none functioning new one. I also read online that I may able to get help with this from my network, basically I am in desperate need of my new iPhone to be unlocked so I can access my number once again ASAP.
Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi @Anonymous
Welcome to the forum. If your phone is locked to Virgin you will have to ask them to unlock it...
I have checked the Virgin mobile site and this is the info about unlocking their mobiles (iphones)
I have a guide for unlocking O2 phones here...but not sure if this will benefit you?
https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form
If neither of the above help then you could contact Apple as a last resort...
