iPhone 3GS has died - will not complete recovery mode

Hi there,

My 3GS will not charge (gets quite hot when plugged into charger) and displays the CONNECT TO ITUNES screen. When I do it goes thru the restore process but gets stuck on WAITING FOR IPHONE screen on itunes (phone displays a progress bar that stays empty).

Any ideas how to remedy this? And what options are there for putting my sim in another phone in the meantime?

Thanks
for any help u can give.

For a 4s you would need a micro sim or if you get a 5. You will need a nano sim, to transfer your number across, they could do it in store for you or use the swapmysim form on this website

the 3gs is known to get hot, as its a normal size sim, you can put it in any older phone that you wish, most of the new ones use a micro sim or nano sim. try closing itunes, reboot your computer, then load up itunes again & do the restore, i assume you have previously done a back up

You could arrange for a genius to perform a diagnostic to test it out but their would most likely be a cost.

The 3GS is soon to be made obsolete so it may be time to let it go to Apple Heaven and test yourself to a 4s !
