Hi I’m looking to get an iPad Pro in pay monthly alongside my current phone and it says it comes with a sim. Would it come with a phone number or is it just a sim that can use data on? Would it be a different number?

It comes with a data only sim and a new number.

Do not upgrade to an iPad from your phone or you will lose all phone functionality.

Okay, how is a data only sim different? It says 100 texts but I don’t see how I could text on an iPad that isn’t iMessage. Is the new number for iMessage over WiFi as you can’t call on them? And I wouldn’t, I’d take out a separate plan.

The data sim is just that, ie data only.

The 100 texts are useless to you with an iPad but are included in all data sims as some android tablets have sms functionality and yes, the number is required for facetime and imessage.
