I'm thinking of getting the kids new iPads for Christmas.

There is an offer of a free Apple Pencil with 25GB+ tariffs.

Is there anything to stop me from taking out the iPads on the 25GB tariff to get the deal and then dropping the tariff after 30 days?

I did. There is no reference to changing of tariffs.

Only things like if you send the ipad back without the free gift you will be charged retail price for the free gift.

Hi @psykix

You can benefit from flexible tariffs ie flexing up and down.

However flexing down means you may lose benefits or promotional offers

Your best bet is to give customer services a call to check before you purchase?.

You can only drop the tariff if you chose a flex tariff.
So, again, check the T&C's carefully if that is your intention as I suspect you will lose any perks of the higher tariff.

Yeah, I realise that. I could change my tariff on my iPhone X, but I would lose the ability to trade in after 12 months for a new device. I get that. Dunno how they could ask for the pencil back tho!

I've checked and it is a monthly rolling airtime plan. Clicking info says it is a flex monthly tariff which can be changed once a month, so don't see that there would be a problem.

@psykix You should be fine, you will still pay approximately 2 airtime bills on 25Gb because you cannot change tariff on first month and depending on your billing due day can take another month, so count with at least 2 airtime bills on 25Gb, don’t forget the family discount or o2 open if you work for an eligible company relieved
