iMessage activation fix (If you have TuGo installed)

Open the TuGo app on your iPhone.
Go to Settings, then Account and delete your account, and slide the switch to Yes.

Uninstall the app from all of your devices.

Go to settings on your iPhone and then iMessage. Slide the switch to off.

Reboot your iPhone.

Go back to Settings and slide the switch to On, and it will say waiting for activation again, give it a few minutes and you should have full iMessage capabilities again, you may need to check that your phone number is selected in the Send & Receive option.

I have spoken to TuGo's Technical product manager who is now going further into the issue.

The funny SMS' that you were receiving were supposed to be silent and sent to an activation server, but since iOS 7 has been introduced, TuGo hasn't been updated as these messages have changed slightly and are hitting TuGo and relaying back to us as a normal SMS.

2 people I know who have never used TUgo cannot activate iMessage (both on contracts) so TUgo is not the answer. It may be to do with TUgo integration with the network but for them it's not the answer as they have no app to sign out of.....

This worked for me cheers Browno!

I had previously just deleted the TUGO app and not fully deleted it. So I reinstalled TUGO, logged into TUGO account, then simply followed your instructions.

Now its all good.

I was having the same exact issues however your trick worked Browno! I realised that I did indeed have a TUGo account but I didn't have the app on my iPhone anymore.

So reinstalled it , signed in and then deleted my account.

Then got the activation stuff from iMessage to say its all up and running. Cheers my man!!!!

Wonder why an app like TUGo would stop iMessage from working- weird?!?!

Worked for me, Iphone 4S, thanks.  As a note - installed TU GO before I went on holiday and it wouldn't let me switch off my answer phone. TU GO a great idea poorly executed. O dear O2.
