My Iphone 8 on iOs 14.01 will not send emails on my BTinternet account using O2 mobile data.

It works perfectly on wifi and on my Mackbook

My iCloud email works perfectly on my iPhone by wifi and mobile data

Makes no sense to me is io O2? BT? or my iphone?

Error message reads:

the sender address was invalid

Sounds like the smtp sever or port is wrong in your email account settings.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

If it is saying the sender address is invalid that means that the BT mail server can't authenticate you.

I would check for any spelling errors in your from address.

Have you enabled SSL and ticked to use same username and password as incoming server?

Thanks for your response,

Yes just checked that, as I said, it works fine on wifi to iphone and on macbook.......Ive not changed its at all since setup. Could it be the upgrade to iOs14.....14.01? But again, all settings are the same for mobile data or wifi in the mail program?,,,,, or am I missing something there......I'm IT literate but not fluent!!

So did it work on data OK before the update?

iOS 14 has caused no end of problems so I wouldn't be surprised if that broke it.

You can also try both ports 465 and 587 in the smtp settings.
