If only for accidental damage. then apple care looks good and I would check but if it includes being able to swap at an apple store then no time without a phone. Plus the added benifit of an extra 12 months apple warranty so again straight swap.

Check your bank as most banks offer phone insurance - either included in your current account free or as an add on for a monthly fee.

I assume you've already checked out its contents and t&c.
Be aware to take it out within the permitted time period of getting the iPhone.

I have AppleCare+ on my iPhone 5S and my iPad Air. They are both also covered on my home contents for theft and damage but if I have accidental damage I will claim on the AppleCare+ to avoid affecting my contents premium, although it wasn't affected too much when I had to claim for damage to my iPhone 5 after smashing its screen

I wouldn't use O2 insurance anyway.
OP, if you can't get free insurance with your bank, I would definitely go with Apple care+ instead of O2 insurance
