Wifi issue with iPhone 6?

Has anyone else experienced issues with the wifi on the iPhone 6? I don't know if it is the iPhone 6 or the iOS 8.

The wifi randomly goes off and can't find a signal.  I put it on airplane mode and off again and still nothing - even when it is next to the router.  The only thing that resolves the issue is to reset the phone, although it is just a temporary measure and it happens agin 1 or 2 days later.

How do you check the diagnostics?

Hello @Anonymous  - diagnostics are now found in the Privacy section (not the About section where they were before the iOS 8 update - that link is incorrectn @Anonymous )

I tried all the possible fixes and none had any effect what so ever until I spotted one thing I'd not tried.

Changing my router settings from WEP to WPA2 under security, thinking to myself this isn't going to make a difference...... well here I am, 24 hours later with a healthy wifi connection which hasn't dropped or cut out once.

Those on WEP and still having issues, give it a go.

1- Forget your current wifi connecting in the wifi section of settings on your phone.
2- Change WEP to WPA2 security in your router settings.
3- Two finger death grip your phone (reset holding sleep and hold button until Apple logo)
4- Search available wifi and choose your wifi and enter your password.

Now ive read other posts saying they've tried this and it didn't work and others saying they are already on WPA2 settings.

All I can post is what has worked for me.

The be all and end all is that you shouldn't have to bugger about with routers if what you've used before has been okay.

The Apple strap line of "I just works..." Is now going to be changed to "It works, for some...."

I hope for Apples sake they fix this in the up and coming update as I feel a lot of users will start to talk with their feet.

As for the above workaround, I hope all that try it is that you have the same end result that I've had.

Good luck guys.

Hi
I've been getting these problems too, but not as regularly as some. Mine happens every couple of days. I've been on WPA/WPA2 all of the time. Are we to ask every shop and bar and other hotspot to change their router settings just so us Iphone users can get connectivity? Come ON Apple...!

A fair point Jbeany

I've been fortunate and not had these issues in my iPhone but have noticed that my wifi has dropped out on my iPad air.

I've done my bit and fed this back to Apple which I'm sure many others have done.

Hopefully iOS 8.1 will address this and iron these bugs out that people are experiencing.

All these suggestions are purely workarounds until Apple get their finger from out of their ar5es.

My post was predominantly for home wifi as that is the location I normally use it.

My iPhone6 is working fine now, question is do I risk the possible raith of IOS8.1 when they finally release it?

Just to update you:

I went back to the Apple shop yesterday.  I explained to the advisor what the problem has been since the restore and he read the notes from my last visit.  He did not even do any diagnostics on the phone he just replaced it for me.

Fingers crossed this phone will work slight_smile
