We want to UNLOCK IPHONE 5!!!!

Anonymous

I am not coming here to ask any question about how or when to unlock Iphone5, it is already 6 month since Iphone 5 was released. And it is the only smart phone cannot unlock at this time. It is not happy as a customer of O2, we want to unlock it, and I believe if there is enough customer complain it to O2, they will do something, maybe. I have done that. Come on guys, If you are a Iphone5 user, please complain it, maybe call them or email them. I feel so upset, Iphone5 still cannot be unlocked!!

Hmm,

See, I'm crap with money so can't afford a new smartphone off the bat unless I was to save for a while for it.

If people were to pay more for the handset, I imagine manufacturers would start introducing a lot more mid-level phones and there'd be far less people with the latest iPhone 5 walking about!

A new phone takes a lot of decision and budgeting and let's be honest, finding £500 to finance it is never easy these days. I pondered over my latest phone for over a month and whether to go for a 2 year contract as O2 had some good offers on at the time.

In the end I decided to stick to my principles, bit the bullet and splashed out much more than I have ever done for a new phone. The point being I can upgrade if I wish to the LTE version of the S4 should I have another moment of madness.

I do agree that if people pay more for a handset you wouldn't see half as many people walking round with the latest iphone or S4 glued to their ear.

Think it will be an obvious choice...

Cheap tariff and buy the handset, or cheap tariff and finance the handset via CPW/P4U credit agreement.

My issue is that I have an iPhone 5 locked on O2 and I'm using pay and go. The coverage in my house has suddenly turned horrible on 3G and I travel a lot around the Newcastle area and the 3G signal is fluctuating all around, at times it just completely drops for minutes on end. I have iTunes Match activated and I can't even listen to music using that service since the signal just keeps fluctuating. There are areas where I have 3 bars of 3G and the data is just not working at all...I was wondering if I could request an unlock based on my coverage issue?

I'm afraid they wouldn't take into account the issues you say your having. If you think about it anyone could say their having coverage issues to gain an early unlock.

I'm not saying in anyway that your not having issues by the way !

The unlock will happen when they deem fit.

Regarding iTunes and music you obviously have the choice to download thousands of music tracks to keep you entertained.

The inability to unlock my iPhone 5 is making it completely useless for use in Asia while travelling. I have to make lots of local calls. The cost of not using a local sim is astronomical! I cant believe because of this policy O2 is operating I am having to take my old Nokia away with me!
O2 this is a disgusting state of affairs.
I am so disappointed by this I have always been iPhone and O2 fanboy but after this I am not sure.

I must admit I cant really see why there are so many people complaining you know when you buy a phone on a contract its locked to that network if you wanted to use different sims you should have bought it sim free from apple

Yes I would have gone to the Apple shop had I not had this response from a O2 Guru in September:

graham gunn: HI Rohan Are you able to advise me of likely date ihphone 5 will be unlocked please ?
O2 : Rohan: I'll be happy to help you.
O2 : Rohan: The official date is not announced yet but hopefully some where in November.
O2 : Rohan: First Apple has to provide this phone all over the world.
O2 : Rohan: It's currently only in 6 countries
graham gunn: Ok i'll be overseas from 14th November so would I be able to get it done from there ? its just I ned to use a local sim while away for 3 months .
O2 : Rohan: Sure, me as anytime in November means around 1 November, the unlocking is done in just 72 hours.
O2 : Rohan: That's the maximum time.
