We want to UNLOCK IPHONE 5!!!!

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am not coming here to ask any question about how or when to unlock Iphone5, it is already 6 month since Iphone 5 was released. And it is the only smart phone cannot unlock at this time. It is not happy as a customer of O2, we want to unlock it, and I believe if there is enough customer complain it to O2, they will do something, maybe. I have done that. Come on guys, If you are a Iphone5 user, please complain it, maybe call them or email them. I feel so upset, Iphone5 still cannot be unlocked!!

I agree....contract phones should not be locked in the first place!

So true.

The revenue is guaranteed anyway so there is no need lock a device. I beleive the decision was to stop people rushing in to get one on contract, unlocking it and then going round the corner to sell it, in which case O2 still has the 24 month contract - unless these people then defaulted then leaving true customers wihtout the latest and greatest iPhone.

Personally I think a phone and a contract should be two separate things completely, subsidies should be scrapped and we would have a much healthier network choice as well as educating people on the true value of a phone....

Aaah I didn't realise that. So it's just o2. That's bloody terrible, what if someone wanted to go abroad and use their phone?

I think by now stock is not an issue and there a lots of genuine reasons why we would want out phones unlocked.

I suspect the issue here is that larger wheels take longer to move - it will come in time.

But I agree it is time for this service to become available for iPhone 5 customers.

Spoke to O2 chat guru today regarding unlocking iPhone 5 and they said its not authorised by Apple yet. Pretty bad considering Apple unlock for Vodafone but not O2.

That's just more web chat inaccuracy. It's an O2 business decision.....
