Wanting to unlock an iPhone 4 that has come out of O2 Contract.

I have an iPhone 4 from a relative, however it is locked to O2 and i am wanting to switch over to EE due to the fact i already have a tablet plan with them for the next 24 months. This will mean i will get a bundle price thus being cheaper.

Is the O2 unlock form the only way to do this?

Am i, the 2nd owner of the phone and not the original holder able to get the phone unlocked for free due to it used to be a contract?

Would i have to pay the £15?

Hi,

Yes fill out the unlocking form and they will mail you to let you know its done.

Then hook up to itunes with the alternative network sim card and itunes will tell you its unlocked

https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

Its free for customers on contract and £15 for payg customers.

In your case ask the original owner to fill out the form for you to unlock it or put your sim card in, top up with £20 and make a few chargeable calls to latch your sim with the phones imei number ,and they will deduct the £15 from your credit.
