Very Poor Phone Signal at home

Anonymous
Not applicable

Four 02 Numbers, all of them on different phones, one of which is an iPhone, the signal on all four phones downstairs is nothing, drops in and out and very lucky if you can maintain a signal for more than a few seconds, making/answering a call is impossible.  Upstairs just about works on 1 bar but thats about it, no particular phone is any better than the other.

All phones are on PayAsYouGo, all of them on 02 for a good many years.

The signal has always been poor at the house, we're not in a bad area but our road seems to be a blackspot.

Put up with it for a long time but a couple of days ago we had an emergency at home, I needed an ambulance, home phone was offline and none of the 4 02 numbers would get a signal to phone out, in the end I had to get in my car to drive 500yds to a phone box, not ideal with children in the house and an ill adult.

So I have to try and do something about it, read up on the 'boostbox' which looks to be some sort of solutiuon to give 3g in the house.

I've looked to buy it, I phoned an 02 shop who told me they dont sell them and to phone 02 customer services...what a nightmare that turned out to be, first operator hadn't a clue what I was on about, 20 minutes of holding to be confronted by a member of 02 who hs no product knowledge, redialled only to be cut off 20mins into the call just as it was answered.

Went to LiveChat, which I will not be using ever again, to say the 02 staff were poor in service is an understatement, wrong answers to questions asked, eventually another 'floor manager' 'tenny' came online and took over the chat only to keep me hanging for ten minutes to give me the answer 'you can buy them at an 02 shop...

02, I've used for like ever, the first time I need to speak to them in almost 3 years and the above is what I got and in reality still no answer to my query.

Anyone?

Another network is where I'll be going if nothing is sorted or 02 don't redeem themselves and another network that does not use 02 as it's backbone.

Sorry to hear about the family illness.

The boostbox is only available for business customers and even for them there is a £150 charge for the device.

As you are in a signal blackspot I would get some P&G sims from the different networks and go with the one with the best reception to be honest. I presume you have checked that there are no mast problems in the area @ the O2 Status website but if the signal has always been poor at home then I would be inclined to change provider personally.

Good Morning,

Perhaps removing the sim and giving it a clean may help.

If your services still do not return properly then another option is to pick up a correct sized blank SIM card from an 02 High-Street Store, and perform the sim swap procedure in-store, or carry out the process yourself at home.

It could take from approx a couple of hours to twenty four for your services to fully return. Turning your phone off and on throughout this period helps to reset things.

Have you tried switching to 2g in your phone.

I hope your situation gets resolved whichever avenue you take.

Take care.
