Using old phones as a Pay and Go temporarily

Hi,  I am new to the community and I am hoping someone can help me with the following.

 I have an in-law arriving tomorrow who is staying for a month and I am hoping they can use my old apple 4 phone, is this possible?  How would I go about it if i can

If the phone is in working order, just insert a pay as you go sim, top it up and all ready to go.

You can pick up the sim from your local O2 store or buy one cheap in a supermarket for example.
Just make sure it's the correct size sim.
If you pick the sim up from the O2 store, store member will be able to set you up before you leave

The only issue you may have is if it hasn't been reset and so it may still be set up on your Apple account and sync everything from it so if that is the case and you don't want it to happen, make sure you either reset it or turn off iCloud and log out of iMessages and the iTunes store.
