Unlocking Iphone

I have unlocked my iphone and put the new sim in (as I am now living abroad) and connected to Itunes however Itunes has not told me the unlocking process was successful and my phone is still not registering the new sim.  What am I doing wrong?

JUst to say iTunes is no longer required for unlock .

 

If unlocked successfully from o2 you just need the new sim

How did you unlock it and have you had confirmation from O2?
