Unlock my iPhone

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have requested for my phone to be unlocked through customer service but it has now been over 72 hours and I have still not had an email confirmation that my phone has been unlocked. I can't ring them again as my phone does not have a working sim. I need the phone to be unlocked to be able to put in a new sim.

Try a new sim whilst connected to iTunes as it's usually very quick providing no problems are encountered.

It is an iPhone 5c and the contract  has run out so the sim in the phone no longer works, I heard that you have to leave the o2 sim in the phone for it to become unlocked fully.

No need for the sim.
Just fill in the manual form in my link above quoting the IMEI number (*#06#) of the phone and the phone number that it was used on with o2.

I tried putting my new sim in while connected to itunes and it came up with an error message saying the phone still needs to be unlocked.

I'd send the manual form in then follow up with a phone call to customer services http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus
