Unlock iPhone 5S on the Refresh Tarriff

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hey guys!

I took out a new refresh contract with the iPhone 5S. I needed it unlocked as I need it for use on two networks, when I enquired about the unlock on live chat, I was told they would unlock the handset, but only after the phone plan had been paid in full.

I then called customer services to check this information was correct, and I was assured it was, so paid the phone plan in full, went back to live chat, and they submitted a unlock request.

The next day - an email arrived from 'back office support' stating they are not yet authorised to unlock iPhone 5S handsets!

I spoke to customer services again who stated that was incorrect and passed it back through! Im a little worried as I dont want it to go past my cooling off period and then they say that cant do it!

Anyone here in the same boat or successfully had your iPhone 5S unlocked?

They aren't unlocking the 5S at all so the point is immaterial.

They'll have to take a chance then won't they?

I doubt they'll bother but we can't promise it won't happen.

I doubt it, O2 don't do loyalty these days. Probably genuine error but I doubt it will get picked up on.

I have now had 4 different answers from the online chat! First person said the phone would be unlocked in 5 days. Second said I had to pay my plan off and then they would unlock. Third said that if I go into the apple store they would be able to unlock it for me and finally the forth stated that they are currently not unlocking the iphone 5s. Why cant they all get their answer straight. If they are able to unlock the phone why wont they? When I first bought the phone I was told it could be unlocked. If I had known I would have had this palava then I would have bought the phone sim free!!! I work abroad and need the phone when im away but use the contract when im home.

I was a lucky one and got my iPhone 5s from launch from o2.

I was advised that if I pay my handset of they would unlock it.

I paid it of and waited 48 hours to show on my account that I had paid my phone of.

I filled in the online unlock form and 3 days later got a sms advising its been unlocked.

Plugged it in to itunes to active the unlock and it came up with a message advisinge that my phone had now been unlocked.

Tried a ee sim and can confirm no issue.

This is the site i used,

On the off-chance i put in a request on the unlock O2 site .... got an email about 3 days later saying that since there was a CA (credit agreement i assume) against the phone they wouldn't ... but if i did pay off and resubmit it would be completed.

That was from the unlocking team
