I'm going to Arizona for 7 weeks and now that my iPhone 5 can be unlocked, I'm thinking of getting a prepaid Verizon sim for local use. This will require I activate my iPhone on their network. Will this require reactivation when I return to O2? Also I won't have another network sim to insert and complete unlock in the UK until I get to America, so will this still work ok?

you are best to try and borrow a non o2 sim to do the unlock in itunes before you go just to be certain the unlock is done.
