Probably a lot cheaper if your phone is unlocked to get a local sim card when abroad.

The TuGo app from O2 can help with making calls over wi-fi if you're on Pay Monthly.

Hi,

Also some other suggestions are ;

Turn off Uk Voicemail before you leave the Uk.

Turn off Mobile data in the iPhone settings : Settings > Mobile > Mobile data toggle to off.

Also turn off data roaming in the settings.

Settings > Mobile > Data Roaming.

If your iPhone is not unlocked then request it here : https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

Its cost free to Pay Monthly customers and £15 to Payg customers.

I've just returned from the US and made extensive use of the TuGo App there for sending texts and making and receiving calls.

Had no problems with it at all.

Make a change and it's good to see some positive reports on this app. slight_smile

One of our regulars is in Thailand right now and he says it works well there too.
