I don't know if this is just me or if it is supposed to be like that but is anyone having any problems using Touch ID/Fingerprint with Apple/iTunes purchases?

I thought that Touch ID can be used when purchasing items in iTunes to avoid having to put password in on every occasions, but it only works once and then it asks for my password again to re-establish it.  I have amended my settings to allow the Touch ID to be used instead of passwords.

Is anybody else having this issue or is it supposed to be like that?

With Touch ID and iTunes, App Store purchases. If you have restarted your iPhone (i.e. switched it off, then back on) you will be prompted for a password when purchasing the first App or iTunes item.

Also, from memory, I think when you download an App or iTunes item. You are first asked for the password to renew Touch ID for purchases, but if you then went on to download another App or iTunes item, you would then be able to use Touch ID instead of the password. This is only the case until you restart your iPhone again (i.e. switch your iPhone off and back on again).

Seems a bit backward to me having to use your password for the first App etc that you download rather than been able to use Touch ID all the time.

I can understand the reasoning for having to have a password as well as Touch ID for unlocking your iPhone (for example if Touch ID developed an issue with your fingerprint and it was the only one stored). But not for App or iTunes purchases.

I think I'll send Apple some feedback regarding this. If enough people do this, perhaps they will address this limitation in a later iOS update:
