Texting from the UK to Europe on pay monthly contract

Hi guys
I was just wondering as i cant seem to find a definitive answer, how much i will be charged to text a friend (who is not on O2) that is currently in France whilst i'm in England? I have an iphone 5s if that's relevant

Is your friend using a uk based sim / account? I.e does your friends have a uk number?

If so it is free for you to text your friend and free for them to receive it. They will however have to pay to text you back.

I read that as a uk phone being used in France if so free of charge

Yes both pones have a uk sim. So it wont charge me to text but it will charge them to text back?

Yes that's correct. Any texts to a uk mobile will come out of any allowance you have wherever the other uk mobile is in the world.
