Suddenly Lost 4G When Upgrading Simplicity Contract

Anonymous
Not applicable

I had a simplicity contract and I ran out of data so I decided to upgrade 1 level and get more data per month. I was receiving 4g before but now it has suddenly stopped and I can only get 3G. Checked the data setting on my IPhone and it is set to 4G and it has been a few days so I thought the issue might have been solved by now but no luck.

Any ideas.

We have had a few cases where customers have moved to simo tariffs and 4g hasn't been set on their account.
Call CS on 202 and ask them to check.
Account changes will usually need 24 hours to kick in.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

It might be that the signal is not strong enough so it will latch on to the strongest signal available which in your case is 3G

do do follow the links provided by @Cleoriff as it maybe congestion or mast error

This really has to be a mast issue as if they messed up the account type at upgrade you would have no internet access at all on mobile data.

Hi there @Anonymous. Would you be able to log into your MyO2 account and find out the name of your new data bolt on? Does it explicity say it's iPhone data or just UK data? Also, did you upgrade directly through O2 or via a reseller such as CPW?

That was my understanding from the opening post...hence my advice to check network/mast status..

Nope - processes were put in place about 2 months ago to end that problem. Now the UK data bolt ons *should* work in iPhones. I've seen several customers since though with no 4G after upgrading - usually from CPW.
