Sim Swap in iPhone 4S for Travel Abroad

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have an iPhone 4S and am on O2 [obviously!]. I've been living in the UK for two years, but apparently am still on my parents' mobile plan [AT&T] back in the States and still have that old SIM. Visiting for the first time since 2011 and find it would be easier to switch out my SIM card for the two weeks I'm there in order to use data and such. I'm rather nervous to do so as I'm worried the iPhone will lose a lot of my info on my proper SIM when I get home and switch back. Anyone have any guaranteed reassurance on the matter, or the reverse that SIM swaps are not a good idea? Any advice or info would be very much appreciated!

just ensure you have unlocked your 4s and do the sim swap between the 2 whenever you want.

Iphone do not store any data on the sim so you are safe there as well

iPhone 11 Pro 256gb on unlimited data
iPad Pro 12.9” 2020 256gb refresh o2 family discount
Apple Watch series 4
My first mobile was in 1995 a CM-R111 from sony on Cellnet.

Adam is right, you can unlock it at o2.co.uk/unlockmyiphone if you haven't already.

Apologies if this is a silly question - If the data is all stored to the phone rather than the SIM, wouldn't I lose it all in the swap? Otherwise, where is it stored? [phone is unlocked...don't know how I'd be using it otherwise, so fingers crossed, don't get any trouble with that. O2's great, but AT&T can be tricky..]

All data is held in the iphone memory and not affected by any sim swapping or change of carrier.

If worried just sync with itunes or icloud it is all tied to your apple id
