My daughter is about to start 9 months studying in the Czech Republic. She has an O2 Pay Monthly iPhone. I've suggested she swaps her SIM for a Czech O2 SIM when she gets to Prague, and swaps it back when she returns at Christmas. Would this work? I don't think the phone is locked but if it is would that be a problem? Also, can she get a Czech O2 SIM before she leaves the UK? Is there anything she should be aware of with all this?

All O2 phones are unlocked since April 2018 so if it's a fairly new phone there's no problem with swapping sims.

She would have to get a sim when she was there as they can only be obtained in the country.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Bear in mind she would still need to pay her monthly contract whilst overseas unless she cancels the contract in which case charges may be incurred

She will need to present her passport when she gets the Czech sim
