So i bought my phone on contract before goin out of the country. They forgot to mention I can only unlock my phone if it has been used on the o2 network. So here I am stuck with a locked phone in a foreign country. chatting online with "gurus" who wont offer a single solution.

For the unlocking procedure to complete the owner has had to use the phone on the O2 network to latch the imei number to the O2 account and use another Uk SIM card to complete the unlock.

Contacting Customer Services in this instance would be fruitless.

"Pay Monthly Non IPhone

If the handset has been purchased from O2 (voice, online, retail)

All handsets can be unlatched free of charge.

If the customer is still within contract, they must honour the remainder of their term.

The handset should have been used on the O2 network before it can be unlatched"

"Can I unlatch while abroad?

Yes, the only condition is the customer must have both the O2 active SIM and another network active SIM with them to perform unlatching."

Hi

Yes your stuck in an unfortunate situation.

The phone has had to be used on the network to latch it's imei number to your O2 account, and then the unlock requested by an online form and then another uk network sim such as vodaphone for example inserted to make the prompt box show up to insert the code.

Are you coming back to the Uk anytime soon ?

You could buy another phone which is unlocked so you can use your SIM card in the interim.

Any reason why you hadn't already used the sim in the phone before you left the uk ?

Sorry that u r having problems, but I hope that they can help you.If you feel like u r getting nowhere u may wanna call cust services, although I have a feeling that it may not work...The only way I'm guessing would be to unlock it using  local third parties but I personally wouldn't do it because they can damage the phone and by letting them do it you would be voiding ur warranty

Be aware that if you bought the phone as P&G it will be 12 months before O2 will unlock it unless it's an iphone.

EDIT just noticed it's in the ios section.

I fail to see how this is headed "O2 is useless" ...... ?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
