What I used to be offered was an extra 1GB of data for £5 but now...
Data
Add extra UK data for browsing, emailing and downloading
One-off 100MB UK Data (£3.00 one-off)
One-off 500MB UK Data (£6.00 one-off)
O2 are looking for an extra £1 for half of what they were offering before!!
O2 no wonder people are leaving when your doing this sort of thing, i was quite happy with my last contract when I was able to add an extra 1GB if I was ever needing it but now SIGH!!!

Hi,
If i need a bolt on I opt for the "The Works" which gives me 1Gb of data use and 50mms messages for £10.
It must have been quite a while ago to get 1Gb of data for £5.
Have you thought about the extra data offered when taking up a 4G tariff before the 31/10/13. Even if where you are does not have 4G you can still use it on 3G.
Just a thought.

But that would make my contract £47 and there is no way that's happening
I loved how I had the option if 'adding' it if I was needing the extra data, like when were away visiting Aberdeen etc
Should this have been something that was discussed with me when I was placing the new contract or is it something that has changed with O2 and this is what they only offer now?

Sounds like it would be worth you paying for a 4G tariff with more data??

Hi,
TBH im not sure when the £5 for 1gb of data ended.
I have not seen it.
Its has always been what it is now for me.
They are obliged i believe to fully clarify whats in your normal tariff allowances for the monthly cost.
The rest regarding extra services is pure homework by the consumer.
What tariff and allowances are you on if you dont mind me asking ?

I like the convenience of the lower £37 a month contract and adding if needed
Not tied into having more data and having to pay higher premium tariff for the next 2 years

I'm on Pay as You Go Go Go £20
500 cross network mins.
Unlimited Texts
1GB Data.
Then as ive said I add ''The Works'' bolt on if needed.
I don't need MMS as I utilise iMessage.

Have to look at what is best for you, sounds like the one you have currently is not suitable, hence gthe need for expensive addons.
Nobody can answer this but you, how many times do you expect to buy an addon? Total this up and see how much extra its gonna cost, then compare that to a better tariff etc..

I paid the £219.99 plus what was left from the remaining contract to get the iPhone 4S quicker than from Apple
So I'm £37 a month, whereas before I had a £32 payment and a 1GB or 2GB Bolt on was available (one-off)
