Hi,

I have just bought an iphone xr (but beginning to wish that I hadn't).

I am getting text messages from people that I know, but other texts are not coming through.  I know that companies etc are sending the texts, but they don't come up on my phone.

Any ideas how to sort it?

@jacks123

Try : settings/Phone/My number

Insert correct number, save and reboot the phone

Have you changed anything on your contract/taken out a new one?
We know that having a £0 spend cap will stop some texts coming through from short codes (like some companies use).
Alternatively you can check if you have blocked any numbers in the messaging app.

Hi,

thanks for your help.  I just tried that, but my phone number in that bit is right.

Please does anyone else have any ideas on how I can fix this?

If I can't get texts the phone is no good to me.  I suppose that I will have to send it back.

Thank you to the people above who have tried to help me though.

@jacks123

You need to contact O2 to check your account.
All numbers are in this guide Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support
When you call, you will be asked for the reason you are calling.
Stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
You can also try saying "Upgrade" or "Fraud" to be connected to an advisor.
8.00am is the best time to call if you can.

Check if the companies you are missing messages from are using short codes (6 digit numbers).
Sometimes those get blocked if you have a spend cap on your account, and it is set to £0.
If you have, then change it by calling customer services or using Live Chat.
