Non-Official Apple Products

We have all seen in the news at least one article about an electrical shock or other damage caused by non-official products being used with Apple devices.

However I am confused as to whether it is the USB cable, the plug, or both that can be dangerous?

The plug part is compataible with the ipad mini.

All chargers using a usb a socket will be 5 volts as that is the usb standard. just the maximum output current (amps ) varies iphone 1amp ipad 2.1 amp but you can charge an iphone from an ipad charger as the iphone regulates the current drawn to charge to 1 amp.
