I have an iPhone 4S that works very well in the uk. I am in France for few days and I can't use it. No service.
Last time I came, it was very unstable. Sometimes ok, sometimes no service. Today it doesn't work at all. Any clue? Thanks. Jeff

I have an iPhone 3GS which was fine on the journey from Le Havre to Nantes but since being here is constantly telling me that I have NO SERVICE. To make matters more annoying, my husband who has exactly the same phone as me is experiencing no difficulty at all.

Cleaning the sim and rebooting the phone does work for many problems and customer service always advise trying this first. Glad you sorted it:smileyhappy:

Is there a real solution to this problem?
I have had the same symptoms since last summer, but only in France (it seems to work fine in the UK, Germany and Austria). Cleaning the SIM card makes no difference and the problem is getting worse. It's as though there is a problem with handoff because once it looses a network it refuses to search for a new one. If I select manual then there are currently 5 available networks, but it won't connect to any of them.
I've followed all the advice on the Apple support pages (updating, reinstating factory settings etc.), but without success. Their final suggestion is that it is a carrier problem.

Hi I have similar problem ... my 4s phone sim doesn't get any coverage in India, though I can see full signal for other phone next to me.
O2 CS say everything is alright but I can't get the sim to get any service ... the sim is good because when the phone starts it picks up a local network for few secods and then its says no service .... something wierd ... looks like a local network is not able to verify O2 sim for roaming .... confused completely .... It was all working fine until recently ... did anyone get to workout this problem ... pls let me know ... ...
thanks ...
