I'm in W1H west london and have no service, but the service report for the area says it's fine, when I go to my settings it says the mobile network is no longer available.

Try switching the phone off, taking the sim out, and giving it a gentle wipe clean. Or try your sim in another phone, as your phone may have a fault.

Why would a problem in Somerset be related to a nationwide problem, check the status page as suggested and inform O2 if there is nothing showing for your postcode area?
There would be thousands of posts if there were a major problem!
