No phone connection

I have just returned to SE England from Ireland where I have had no phone connection on my i-Phone 4 (red circle on the icon). I now find I still have no connection at home. what has happened? I have been able to get e-mails and internet access when able to connect to wi-fi.

The empty red circle (or badge, as they are often called) in this case applies to the visual voicemail. It means that you have no data connection, so visual voicemail is unavailable.

Have you restarted your phone since arriving home?
Have you changed anything recently, sim card for example?
Try also resetting the network settings and check for any carrier updates that may be available.
Finally check your settings against this thread....
