I have just received my iphone 5S yesterday. I have set it up and also went through the 4G Set up assistant found here https://www.o2.co.uk/4g/setup/

It said the setup was successful and i am just wondering how long does it take for 4G to be setup or activated on your phone.

From a few minutes to 24 hours typically.

I assume you have the new 4g sim card and signed up to a 4g tariff.

Their has been a network outage which is now fixed so this could have delayed things.

If you phone o2 on 202 or their landline  0844 809 0202 5p / min they will be able to check your account.

Are your calls and texts working ok.

Have you connected to itunes and completed the carrier update download.

Sim swap process.

Ok,

Check your service status http://status.o2.co.uk/ and if all is showing fine then after around 24 hours has elapsed since the sim swap ring o2 on 202 just to have your account checked out.

It cant harm checking your APN settings either.

I got my 5S today, and the 4G started working as soon as the Sim was active. Getting 43Meg down and 11Meg up which is awesome! Im not however getting 4G in my house, even tho the coverage checker says I should, so it may be that not all the masts are working yet.

I have had my iphone5s for a week now and after 24hours after my sim swap i contacted o2 to tell that 4g still doesnt work. they told me to do some things with my phone but still no 4g after about half hour of trying they said okay well as its a new phone its just setting up and you will have it in no time. well, the 3g comes up at the corner of my screen but everytime i go to use the internet it says im not subscribed to a network plan? And a week just for 4g seems like somthing has gone wrong?

Check in My O2 that you have the I data bolt on. This is the usual problem and nothing to do with the phone being new.

I agree with jonsie.
Your apn will be set to iData but you won't be on an iData plan.
Change your apn to "mobile.o2.co.uk" until you get CS to change your data plan.
