New sim wont activate

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

May seem like a stupid question but i recently got the iphone 5s and gave my 4s to my little brother. We got a replacement sim from the o2 store for him to use in the 4s but it doesn't work in the phone it says there is no service. How do you find out the mobile number for the sim you were given? and does he need to top up before he gets service? All a bit confused!

Thanks

But you have nothing to replace. All you have is a blank sim card.
You need a PAYG sim card.
Order one for free from here https://www.o2.co.uk/freesim/

The number should be on the part it was clipped into.

By inserting the sim it activates and you should start to get the set up text messages, and attain o2 Network connection.

The number should be in settings, phone.

At the top is 'my number'

Tell him to look for his number in Contacts like bob mentioned.

The sim will take up to 24hours to activate.

What do you mean by a "replacement" sim?
Did he already have an O2 sim of a different size?
If so you need to use the swap my sim form.

That is a contract sim. Did you want a PAYG ?

He's never been on o2...does that mean he shouldn't be using a replacement sim?

You need to explain exactly what you are trying to do.
Contract or PAYG.
Porting in a number etc.
You can't just type any number into the phone.

You have been given a contract sim.

Sounds like the shop thought you wanted to swap from a different size sim already on O2.

The sim you have is useless.
