Hi there, 

I've just got a new iPad Air 2019 on contract and I've only just managed to go the new number on the bit for contactable devices. The number is still not coming up as a choice for messages and FaceTime, I would be great if someone could help. 
im trying to get in contact with my brother as I'm worried

Go to Settings >Phone >My number and add your number.

Save it and reboot the iPad.

Go back to iMessage and check it's activated.

You can add it on your phone if you also use an iPhone.

If not, login to iCloud and add it there under devices.
