Mail messages suddenly not coming through on iPhone 3

Last night when I was checking my phone for emails, I realised I'd received nothing on there for several hours, and the spinner was going around but nothing was coming through. I was fully connected to my home wifi, and when I checked my computer and ipad, mail messages were all coming through normally. I tried sending a test message but this didn't go anywhere either. This morning it was still the same. Then I noticed that the phone date and time was completely wrong - it had it as Saturday at midnight ( if these had been working days I would have noticed ). I did a switch off and switch on of the phone, mail still not coming through, reset the times manually, then about half an hour later when trying again the mail Ll suddenly updated. It's been fine since. No real harm done but if I'd been at work and really reliant on the phone it would have been v annoying.
A one off glitch or is there an explanation. And was the change of time and date significant?

Hi,

These glitches do happen and ive come across the date issue affecting e mails before.

As an example my Yahoo Mail and MacBook Air dont get along with each other either.

Something ive just come to live with.

Usually turning your iphone off and on resets it.
