Iphone phone number

Recently joined O2 and wanted to keep my old number which seemed to have happened on 2 January but when I text it is using a different number and causing much confusion for people- not good!  Please help?

Have you checked if your number is showing correctly in the phone settings?

Just checked and it has the different number.

Will it allow you to change it?

The phone reads the data from the simcard so you may have to put the sim in another phone that allows you to change the mobile number.

Yes it has let me change it.  Will keep an eye on it just it case it changes again.  Thanks

The iPhone now allows you to change the number settings> phone> my number 

change it there to the correct nnumber hope that helps
