What a conundrum 😔

I've tried to see if my iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1 does the same as yours.

It does not !

I do turn my iPhone off at least once a Week which gives it a rest. 😄

My mother's iphone 5 has a similar problem when receiving messages when the phone is off and then turned back on however her messages dont come through at all until you have tapped in your passcode.
