Iphone 5 claim on insurance

Anonymous

I've seen this story a lot on the threads but I want to see if it's happened to anyone recently with an iphone 5? I rung 2 Saturdays ago to O2 to claim on my insurance as the lock button stopped working completely. They said they would pick it up last Monday and DPD did. Got a text to say it had been received at O2 and more info would follow shortly. No contact was made so I rung last Saturday and was told a new phone is on it's way and should be here by latest on the Wednesday. Got a text today (Tuesday) saying my phone is out of stock and I will be told when a new delivery date is possible so I rung O2 but insurance company have all the details and closed at 7pm (I rung at 8pm). So.... I've also heard that iphone5 isn't made anymore so 5s's are being sent out? Or phones worth less than iphone 5 are being sent out.... Just wondering what other people got! 😞

Here is a similar thread regarding a replacement phone being out of stock:

I hope this helps

I know this wont help now but this is the reason I won't insure through O2, they did it to me a few years ago.

Luckily my bank, Halifax, insures my phone through my 'Ultimate Reward Account'. It costs me £15 a month but includes other stuff other than phone overage. If I make a claim then I have to pay £100 excess.

They accepted the insurance claim pretty much the first time I rung up and said the lock button on the top has stopped working. I don't see how that should not be covered by insurance? It's clearly damaged and a fault in the phone...Nothing in T+C's about it but it has been accepted today officially. Update though..I rung insurance today and was told they don't know when a new delivery of iPhone 5's are due in, could be today tomorrow or friday. Man on the phone was awful with giving me information so I gave up due to being on my lunch at work but rang O2 instead of insurance when I got home and they were really helpful to be fair and called insurance for me and he said there shouldn't be a problem with the stock really but the delivery that was meant to come in today, didn't..funnily enough. But should be delivered tomorrow and therefore a new phone on friday. Have to ring insurance tomorrow though to check etc etc. Just want a new phone!!!

Thankyou slight_smile I haven't been offered a replacement yet as an equivalent to my iPhone 5 but have a feeling I will be soon, to be fair I agree with the guy you shouldn't have to accept something different considering your paying for this.. I'm paying 60 quid excess, 25 quid (Deposit) for a brick from o2 and 12.50 a month for the insurance itself. The least they could do is have a iPhone 5 on reserve for me. As a loyal customer to o2 for so many years, it's really poor. Although I don't quite blame o2.. I blame the insurance company.

Well they don't have a phone in reserve for everyone with an insurance policy on a "just in case" basis....

Some people can be very unrealistic at times.

From time to time every retailer has items or of stock. When they get more it in will be delivered.

From time to time tech does go wrong. That is life. A few days won't hurt as you have a phone for now.

Hardly being unrealistic when I was told 3-5 working days to receive a new phone as my claim was accepted then told a phone to be recieved today and now a load or bull telling me there's no accurate date of when new stock comes in. It's quite frustrating to not know what's going on when your paying hard earned money for something you don't have.

Yeah that's fair enough I think I meant just having more stock as a lot of people are having the same problem with other phones also..

Unfortunately they cannot stock everything all the time and Apple have discontinued the 5 since the launch of the 5s so although possible to get them it may take a little longer. If you are really lucky you may even get an upgrade wink
