Iphone 4s call volume low - HELP

Hi, I just got my new iphone 4s but the volume is very low during calls. I can't seem to turn it up. I see this problem appears to be common but I can't find a solution, any suggestions how to turn the volume up? My boyfriends iphone 4 volume is fine. All software is up to date.

If the rocker switch on the side is at full and you dont have the protective screen sheet on or a shield that may be hindering the mic.

press the top button and home button together until the apple logo appears and let go = soft reset.

if no improvement

settings, general, reset, reset all settings.

Still no joy then make sure the ports are dust and lint free.

last resort book an apple genius bar appointment.
