Smiley Very HappyFinaliy got my hands on an iphone 5 today as an upgrade on the new Refresh tarrif.Whilst instore I asked the o2 staff if I can upgrade to the iphone 5s when it's finally released any time during my new contract as this is the main selling point of the new Refresh contracts. He said to me that I need to be 9 months in to my contract really before changing handsets but a call to o2 customer service should be okay.I found this a bit worrying as the whole idea of Refresh is to be able to change handsets before upgrade time.Does anyone know if the member of staff was correct or misinformed?

You will have two contracts with Refresh, one for the phone and one for the airtime, once you have paid for the phone you can upgrade to a new Refresh deal with a new phone.

If you're not ready after paying the phone off you can continue with the airtime only until you are.

I haven't read anything about a minimum time limit, see more here under How does O2 Refresh work:

I'm not taken with this new concept !

One would be better off getting a smartphone imon a pay monthly contract for free or a small amount and then put an amount of money away each month in a high interest bank account, which I do.

Then when you have enough cash sell the high end phone to go towards the cash you already have saved to purchase your next shiny new toy.

If your committed and don't dip into the funds of course !

Yeah Band of Brothers I'm not over keen on this new refresh idea as I never got as much of a discount as I thought. My company is a channel partner with o2 so I thought ide be getting 30% off the standard £37 tarrif(£25.90) but I HAD to take the refresh contract instore only giving me discount on £17 as £20 is paying towards the phone. So my monthly payments are £31.90 a whole £6 more!!!!I know I can buy my phone out and upgrade anytime during my contract but the extra cost makes me a little sceptical as there are thousands of people entitled to discounts and is this a clever marketing ploy by o2 to make more money?
