Recently joined o2 from EE
Ported my number over fine (it seemed)
Set up Imessage fine, And changed number in Settings to the number I wanted.
Receiving texts and calls to the correct number,
However, yesterday my imessages started coming from the temporary o2 number which is no longer in service.
But there is no trace of that number anywhere on my phone/apple ID.
I have tried everything suggested on google, and no joy. Turned off all imessage/face time, reset network settings, ensured the correct number is listed in my phone settings. turned off phone and waited for a while,
Rebooted phone, turn on Imessage, it activates but still attaches it to the pre-ported temporary o2 number....
Apple say this sounds like the carrier doing a poor job of porting, and o2 only suggest the same things I have tried.
If you text the pre-ported number (the o2 number i do not want) nothing comes through and it says number not recognisd. and if you call or text my ported ee number they come through fine.
If i Text NUMBER to 2020, it confirms my number is the correct ported number.
But still Imessage only activates to the o2 pre-ported number. If I click the send/receive button, it just lists this wrong number and my email address.
No idea what to try now but it is verry annoying.

If a new sim doesn't fix it I'm baffled too @VestyMcVestFace
I can only guess that the sim has a number embedded in it and as O2 don't push new numbers to sim cards it's somehow confusing the issue, although it's not something we come across regularly.

Fingers crossed a new sim fixes the issue,
it is baffling, as apple say to set up imessage it sends invisible SMS to the phone, and the phone responds. In order to set up.
Yet their number it is attaching to Imessage no longer actually works (the pre ported number). And there is no trace of it on the handset itself, or attached to my Apple ID.
And I receive texts / calls to the old EE number as planned
---
Im just hoping when I get my new Sim and activate it, that it actually activates to the old EE number that I ported over, and not the temp o2 number

Your new sim will be blank so only the current account details will transfer over with the sim swap, not any historical information.

okay great,
Further info,
I decided to boot my old iphone 6 (without a sim) and set it up, Sent a imessage and even this is using the pre ported o2 number... and that has never been attached to this phone.
After that, i am starting to think the new sim wont fix this, but will see

The number has somehow linked itself to your ID or iCloud which was my first thought.
Have you logged into iCloud online to see what numbers are stored ?

It's somewhere in settings. My details or something like that. I'm on mobile so can't look myself right now but both numbers are definitely linked to your iCloud.

Okay think I've found the section,
It now says reachable at:
Email address (which I cant remove)
EE ported number (which I cant remove) (this was also not here earlier today on the phone version)
temp o2 Number (which I cant remove)
Then lists the EE ported number again... (which I can remove)
The ones unremovable have a '?' next to them, rather than a 'X' The question mark says to remove it, sign of of imessage/face time on your device.
But I have no device with that number. And the only device signed in at the moment is the old Iphone6.
------
Side note:
This problem happened yesterday after being fine for 2 weeks, yesterday I restored the (non-being used, no-sim) Iphone6 to factory setting as it was no use to me. This seems to have been what caused the issue.
No idea why

I was going to ask what you had done recently that may have caused this @VestyMcVestFace as it's not usually what happens when porting a number.
I think you'll have to contact Apple to get them to remove the number if logging out doesn't work for you.

It does sound like that at first,
However, after having the ability to chose either number on send/recieve after putting my sim in my old Iphone 6
I have just put the sim back into the Iphone 11, network reset and reboot and again, it just picks up the temp o2 number. Then I log into Icloud/apple ID. and I can chose either email or o2 number.
But not the EE number I want
