i just got my iphone 5 today and i cant connect to my home wifi, it says no networks etc, unless I literally stand right next to my router is the only time my wifi works, even if I turn my back to it the signal almost disappears, and goes completely if I move more then 7ft away,

You have tried a hard reset and a restore in itunes? If so, then deffo a trip to Apple.

Make a reservation first. Don't envy you, the stores will be packed at this time of year.
