I can send AOL mail but my iPhone 4 won't download mail.

This problem of not getting my email is about two days old. I have tried deleting the AOL account with a view to re installing it but the iPhone won't delete the account.

I have had the iPhone 7 weeks and may have messed up. I should add `i am not having AOL mail problems on either my iMac or iPad.

Email application setup basics

Setting up access to the AOL email servers is relatively simple, and the settings are similar for most email applications. The basic information that you need is as follows:

  • Your email address: screenname@aol.com
(Be sure to include the @aol.com or suffix)
  • Incoming mail (IMAP) server address: imap.aol.com
  • Outgoing mail (SMTP) server address: smtp.aol.com; port: 587
  • Your user name is your AOL screen name
  • Your password is your AOL password
