I got a notification from o2 that I'd sent an MMS message, which alarmed me, as I'd turned off MMS messaging in my iPhone settings. On getting my bill it appears I got charged 54p for sending one fingers-crossed emoji. There were no other pictures sent to the recipient.
So if I've got it MMS Messaging turned off under Settings>Messages>SMS/MMS is there any other way of ensuring it doesn't happen? The only guide I've found on here relates to Android where you can adjust more things.
Thanks

Hi @colin-thames1 - all the info on accidental MMS sending and how to set your phone up so it does not inadvertently send an SMS as an MMS because you have put an emoji in there... Guide: Accidental MMS Sending and How to Avoid it
The guide makes reference to modifying the APN on your phone, info on how to get at the APN on an iPhone here if you need it.
Good luck!

Brilliant, thanks pgn. The guide to how to get to the MMS APN settings was what I was missing. Fingers crossed I won’t get charged now. Presumably I’ll just get an error message if I try to send a text with an emoji to someone with an Android, without iMessage?

You should do.
Just keep an eye on it, as when Apple push a New Carrier update, it may be reset.
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company
