First time ipad owner no 3G

Hello there,

Treated myself to the a ipad with 3G, turned it all on inserted simcard correctly, but having alot of problems getting the 3g working with an o2 sim card supplied by apple. Been googling for past 2 hours or so with no joy!!

Basically, iv tried different settings in my APN settings, including

idata.o2.co.uk/vertigo/password

ibrowse.o2.co.uk/browse/password

payandgo.o2.co.uk/vertigo/password

Everytime i hit "View Account" I get the error "Device not reconigzed, the sim has not been registered properly in our systems, call customer service on 0844 809 0222 and when asked, provide the ID *******" with an o2 symbol in the top right corner.

Called up, came across no option of entering in the id.

On my iPhone, next to carrier it picks up O2-UK, yet on my iPad it doesnt. 

Anyone come across this before and have any idea what to do?

Did you pick up a specific ipad sim card from 02 and have 02 confirmed its been activated.

How to change APN settings for the iPad?
Once you have activated your iPad, you will need to change your APN settings so you can access data applications such as Safari and Google Maps. In order to do this you will need to complete the following steps:
• Tap on Settings 
• Tap on Cellular Data 
• Tap on APN Settings 
You will then see 3 fields which will be labelled APN, Username and Password. Please tap on each field and enter in the following information - please note that when typing in o2 you use the letter o and not the figure: 
• Tap on APN and delete the text that says ibrowse.o2.co.uk and please type in idata.o2.co.uk 
• Tap on Username and delete the text browse and please enter the username of vertigo 
• Tap on Password and delete the text in the field. Please enter password 
Once this is done, your APN settings will now be complete

Do not press the home button to exit.  Press ‘BACK’ until you reach the settings menu. Then reset the device by holding down the On button until the ‘swipe to turn off’ option appears. Turn off the device, wait 30 seconds and then restart it.
