I 100% guarantee this stock shortage is by purpose by Apple to drive hysteria for their new product. It makes sense from a viral marketing perspective: If people see that the iPhone 7 is continually sold out they will think 'well, it must be a great phone if it's continuously sold out'. 100% they would have anticipated the demand for the iPhone 7.
With the disappointing sales of the 6S last year, Apple wants to drive as much focus as possible to their new product
