Im Actually in shock by the lack of customer service you get at O2 and the insurance they offer.
I pay a ridiculous amount for my insurance every month for the iPhone 5 I bought in May, brand new through O2. When I signed up, the lady in the store informed me that the shocking amount of £12.50 a month would entitle me to a new phone if it was forexample stolen.
Well loathe and behold, my phone was stolen on Friday and today I got a lovely USED iPhone in the post. I call O2 to ask - why, Im paying all this money (including £60 claim fee!!) and in return the only thing they are offering me is some handy-me-down phone, which of course they verbally vouch for is a good as new but cant give me anything in writing proving from Apple the phone is as good as new. I then ask, what my insurance will be reduced to now as Im not insured on a new iPhone, but on an old used one which is of course now of lesser value than a brand new one. I was told I still had to pay the same amount, because in their eyes the phone was new – they after all voucher for it being in top quality AND my monthly payments dont even cover buying a new phone. Seriously, I pay less for my home insurance and I dont get the same bull**bleep** from them! I asked, what if after the first 72 hours have passed and I then find something faulty with the phone? I can claim on the insurance again, but this time it will cost me a wooping £120. REALLY O2!! So youre supplying me with a used phone, which you vouch for but I have to pay if actually breaks down?!
Perhaps im completely out of the loop, but I’ve never had an insurance company that sends you a used replacement, and cant even give you a written warranty voucher from the manufacturer the product is as good as new. Does house and car insurance work the same way? If your car gets stolen, do you get a used car in return?
Sort it out O2, if I could afford to pay myself out of the contract Im stuck in and get rid of you I would. 1 year and 6 months and 2 weeks left and counting.

Mobile phone insurance has never been good value, it seems pointless to me.
If you are going to use it, you really must read the terms so you understand how it works.

well it is all in the T&C for the insurance you bought. But this is why we do not insure through o2 but on a contents policy

I'd have to agree, but it's not limited to O2 insurance.
Much better off on house insurance or put the insurance money away each month and "self insure".

Hi, I was goin use my insurance because my S2 got flat (something drove over that), they were looking £25 access, but before they offered me another S2 ( would you beilieve they still have them in black/white), I been asked if I ll wait a month for upgrade. Finaly I got offer from friend for S3 so I canceled that. That would be great surprise to get used S2 (2 years old fone still like new?, mine was). Good to know you get used crap goin cancel insurance for S4.

Maybe a little off topic. But if you have a faulty iPhone and need it replaced, and you go to Apple, you can end up getting a refurnbished one from them too.
But in fairness, Apple refurbs are like new. From what I read, the iPhone's are shipped back to China, dissasembled, the batteries, and I'm sure pretty much of all the internal components are replaced, and they then go through the same checks as the new iPhones do.
